Modeling Intrinsic Motivation
Children need to know how to solve problems and make it up to someone when they get something wrong, because we are going to get things wrong. So I call this learning to make amends. It's not necessarily forcing a child to say sorry, but then to work out a way to show the other person,. They're not going to do it again. The last one I wanted to talk about today is modeling intrinsic motivation by the adults around them. Do we have a friendly relationship with error? How do we model getting things wrong and finding solutions? Or maybe we beat ourselves up when we get things wrong? Our children are always looking to us and we can be modeling intrinsic motivation as well
