Are You Trying to Keep People in Check?
Rousseau and hobbs are two extremes of the options available in medernity for thinking about society. Both influenced our world in profound ways. The bible, again, sees both of these as partial pictures of a much more complex truth that have been ripped away from the truth. And so rousseau is taking elements and shards of this biblical truth it means to live in a kingdom where everybody is harmoniously a part of what god's doing. But hobbs tries to secularize that by trying to get other elements of god's reations to be secularized too - but neither gets them all right.
