The Thomasonians - A History of Medical Freedom

For much of american history, until the early twentieth century, the main target of medical freedom activism was medical licensing. Samuel thompson was an itinerant folk healer from northern new england who invented a alternative medicine system. And this was used from the beginning of American history by the orthodox medical profession to try to limit  the freedom of alternative practitioners to practice. These were really, really popular movements.
