The Threats to the Congo Basin

Trees in the Congo Basin, notably, are larger than the Amazon for a variety of reasons. Large mammals create more corridors, prohibiting smaller denser trees from propagating. This creates less dense but larger trees that are primed for carbon sequestration. The value of these forests can't even be fully quantified - according to the International Monetary Fund it is equal to $1.75 million.
