The EU Is Angry With Warsaw at the Moment

Sophie Intervelt is a human rights campaigner and member of the Dutch Liberal Party, D66 currently in coalition government in the Hague. The Polish government has introduced a range of new laws which are undermining the independence of the judiciary,. One that entered into force this week, that obliges judges to retire at 65. And that means that about 40% of judges in the Supreme Court will basically be replaced by judges who are friendly to the government. Now politicians' second judges have no place in a modern democracy in search of the United European Union.
