Vaiden: I don't think it's feasible of like bringing out the sort of calamity that people are worried about. The main techniques that are used are inductive in the sense of trying to generalize from observation and for philosophical reasons which we talked about in the past he doesn't think that generates new knowledge. He says most arguments about AI doom and gloom just kind of extrapolating forward current trends. Vaiden: So if the AGI stuff motivates people to work on more concrete problems then I'm for it but at least right now I don't see any conceivable path towards it.
