Is Boaz Not Talking About Race?

I was revisiting an article that I'd read by Gillian Cowley-Shaw, a New Zealand anthropologist who researches among indigenous Australians. In the 90s, trying to talk about race in Australia, and kind of like you're mapping out in the United States, like race was not really an analytic that anthropologists were prepared to use. She's written an article that was eventually published, but it was denied publication in the U.S. And then she wrote another article about the efforts to get that article published. And one of the comments was that she needed to go and read Boaz again, because anthropologists don't talk about race. There's a counter perspective
