What Is Your Accent?
accents can sometimes be messages about a the fact that we want to get alongside somebody and be friendly with them. We might change our accents lightly when we listen to the noises that they are making in order to fit in with them. Conversely, what we might do is choose an accent which we know is very different from somebody else's if we want to assert our personality over them. And hopesthat that's a lot more than i expected an accent to to inform us about.
