The Importance of Bringing Back the Person

The first chapter focuses on W.B. Du Bois, and how does this concept play into our understanding of black studies? I think we have to bring June Jordan back in many respects because this is Black Studies in its initial academic institutional incarnation in the West. She writes in that piece that we are the primary sources of information. It's a confrontation with the authorities that are dominant in knowledge production.
