Do Mentalizing and Storytelling Improve Memory and Retention?

There's a lot of evidence with storytelling where, for example, if you had people memorize a list of words versus telling it through a story. There's definitely been a link between humor as well so not just in cohort learning but in any kind of learning. I want to go back to the term mentalizing again because I think that this is a really good one even deconstruct more. So do we know that improves the memory and the retention then I mean it seems logical that that's happened but have we proven that?
