The Beauty of a Theory

Beauty of a theory is what we call naturalness. If there's some very contrived seeming cancellation between things or coincidences in a theory, that makes it less beautiful. You can make up an arbitrary number of theories like these and none of them really stand out next to each other. That motivates us to look for solutions to explain why the universe is the way it is.
