DevRel is kind of a weird, you know, unique team in that it can impact so many different parts of the organization. And I've also come to realize that the size of your team is never going to really be equivalent to some of the size that marketing or engineering or product can get to because quite often your company just doesn't need that many DevRel people. For me, title is really helpful in that ability to have a seat at the table and not that you're not respected, but your voice is listened to maybe a little bit more if you've got a little more senior title.
In this episode we’re joined by Sid Maestre, VP of Developer Relations at APIMatic, a platform that simplifies API consumption by automatically generating high-quality SDKs, code samples, dynamic docs, and test cases for your API. Prior to his current role, he was the Director of Developer Relations at Karbon; the Director of Developer Experience & Advocacy at Lob; and is also an experienced public speaker within the industry!
They discuss what it’s like collaborating with marketing in the DevRel world; Sid’s unconventional origins in social sciences; as well as some of the core principles that he’s learned whilst being in DevRel. They also delve into whether it’s your personality or ability that drives your success - which do you think it is?
