Hesseine abdull russell was just 12 years old when he helped uncover the tomb of otutencarmens. Hanging round his neck is a massive ornate bejewelled chain adorned with golden sun disks and scarab beetles carved from lapus lazuli in a deep, rich blue. But carter's discovery of these dazzling riches was only made possible by team of laborers, cooks and attendants like hesseine. Excavation is a group effort - not just a solo effort by a heroic archaeologist.
