Machine Learning and the Reproduction of Inequality

This chapter explores how machine learning technologies can replicate gender and race inequalities by compounding biases in data, measuring the incorrect factors, optimizing algorithms to increase inequalities, and utilizing tools critically. Examples of biases in chat GPT and predictive policing tools are provided.
