The Role of Molecular Clocks in the Evolution of DNA

Molecular clock technique is based on the premise that things occur at a stable rate. But we know that DNA does not evolve at a standard rate. If you use a relaxed molecular clock, then you assume that there's variation in the rate of DNA mutations happening across a DNA or in a gene over time. New ways to look at things in comparative different species may be able to get more morphologically present characters than previously thought. The goal of it is to be able to ask evolutionary questions and figure out taxonomic answers.
