The time of exposure that you get from a body wash is when you put it on and then you rinse it off pretty much right away. Retinal actually needs to pass through the layer of dead skin on your outer surface called the stratum corneum. So generally, an oil does not work well from a shampoo because shampoos are designed to remove oil.
