I only found out about him last year because they published a load of what they called their his Ponce in the new statesman and I never known about him before. He led a very interesting life. You know he was a labor MP then he was a television personality then he wrote philosophy books. Also he had an apartment in North Oxford but he spent an enormous part of his year just moving from various nicely funded foundations that wanted thinkers to come and just be there and work for a month or two. His colleges were global. He loved the college life but his colleges wereglobal. And he had this very old-fashioned extremely attractive high-pitched sort of way of speaking of sort of
