Asians had been discriminated against since the mid-1800s when chinese laborers crossed the pacific to fill low paying jobs in the west. By 1942 there were over 1 million german and atalian american citizens but japanese drew most of the focus from military officials and racist propaganda. On february 19th franklin rosvelte signed executive order 9066 allowing the military to set up areas called exclusion zones where they decided who could enter remain in or leave.
