Why Is FREE SPEECH Important? Start your free trial today at http://www.squarespace.com/afterskool to get 10% off your first purchase. Check out our GRAPHIC NOVEL on the new After Skool website http://afterskool.net/ A free society depends on exchanging new ideas, regardless of their potential capability of offending someone. Without the open exchange of ideas , our current understanding of the world would be unrecognizable and entirely false. Everything we know about the world- from the age of our civilization and species to the laws that govern energy and the complex workings of the body & brain - has come into being first by free speech, nurtured by the innovation of ideas, and curated into our collective knowledge if deemed worthwhile after withstanding the test of time.Script written by Eli Samuel @ https://www.discoarse.com/ Eli's podcast ~ Discoarse ~ is available on anchor.fm/discoarse & podcast platforms everywhere Song at the end: Step/Time by CharlestheFirstSources: http://www.lenconnect.com/news/20180103/michigan-colleges-annual-banned-words-list-includes-fake-news https://listverse.com/2015/08/25/10-most-absurd-things-to-ban-on-politically-correct-college-campuses/ https://www.independent.co.uk/student/news/university-cardiff-metropolitan-bans-phrases-mankind-gentlemans-agreement-gender-neutral-terms-free-a7609521.html https://www.mediaite.com/online/california-state-university-bans-words-cuz-english-language-is-offensive/ http://www.youdontsay.org/BannedWords.html Follow the podcast for new episodes.
