The Counter Enlightenment
In the original enlightenment of the seventeenth and eighteenth century, there was a pretty swift counter enlightenment. He's saying that this enlightenment now, you know, the 20 first century version of the enlightenment, there's also a counter enlightenment happening as well. A clan, a tribe, an ethenic group, a religion, a race, a class, a nation, some kind of ideological group where they pit themselves against enlightenment. It's a left and right issue. Not so long ago, nationalism was fused with markss liberation movements on the left. But now nationalism is really aa right wing issue. Many on the left are encouraging identity politicians and social justice warriors to down play individual rights
