The robocall scam uses a computer to trick people into giving money. The groups say they're supporting police, firefighters and veterans. But the donations don't always go where they are supposed to. CNN's John Sutter found that only about 1% of their donations were used for anything like what they thought they were supporting.
A New York Times investigation has found that a group of Republican operatives used robocalls to raise $89 million on behalf of veterans, police officers and firefighters.
