The Persians were defeated by the Greek king Darius in 93 BC. Historians have been divided on whether this was a victory or not. A revolt is about to break out among cities under persian domination, and it's called the ionian revolt. The greeks had all four of the islands over the mediterranean coast of Turkey as their colonies.
