R No: Erasure is about a writer whose work is not well received in the mainstream. He's an African American novelist who isn't read by white readers because his work does not fulfill their expectations about the Native American experience. My journey started on a boat, I spent a year in a refugee camp and somehow I ended up here on Hollywood's biggest stage. And my mother and her father were both nominated for Oscars in different categories. I just want an Oscar. For all the little boys and girls who look like me watching tonight. This is the beacon of hope and possibilities.
