The Origins of Originality in Art

Historically, historically art had nothing to do with being original. The idea that you are like a unique soul and that you have something original to say is actually a fairly new concept in human history. And so, really, our modern, I also think it's a function of capitalism. In capitalistic society, the way to make money off your art is to copyright it.
