The Chinese are very concerned about catching up with Technology in the rest of the world. With AI by centralizing data control they're able to outcompete the West and so that creates a very strong incentive For them to move more in a totalizing direction So I don't think either it's a coincidence that you've seen Xi Jingping who's really moved to China far far back in the authoritarian almost totalitarian direction away from Where things had been going under previous leaders. It's no surprise that that's happening at precisely the same time that AI is becoming the dominant technical paradigm.
