The Gray Area with Sean Illing

CHAPTER

The Action of Poetry

I've tried to write poetry and I can't do it. There's just, my mind cannot help but go back into that sort of logical mode where it's trying to make sense of things. What I've suggested for people with this book is you should pick out 12 occasions in your life, either holidays or human needs. Pick out the poem in advance, put it in a booklet and you can go to it. You'll then know that if somebody dies, you have a poem for that. If we all take from that, A, it's a cultural bond. It makes us stretch outside race, gender, class time, it obliterates all of that.
