If central banks want to compete with China and Russia, they will have to bake in liberalism into the features of their CBDCs. The temptation then, I think for central bankers will be to infringe on people's rights. So whether they can sell it to the people, that is the big question. It seems like we've already got systems in place and people are already very comfortable with credit card based systems.
