Harold is questioned by Lieutenant Grebe at the police station, where he remains silent and demands a lawyer. He is eventually arrested and placed under house arrest with his wife, Ina. The police employ various tactics, including bugs and a lookalike victim, in an attempt to elicit a confession. Meanwhile, Harold and Ina plan their own suicides if they are arrested.
