Sheila, jo keister, mabs martin and dotty walsh were murdered. herb coddington was found guilty on all charges in January 1989. His parents wrote letters trying to keep him from being sentenced to death. Judge finney noted that the letter and others from parents caused him great emotional turmoil. He said he found them to be wonderful, fine, decent people truly believed their son was mentally ill. But finny saw things differently, calling herbcoddington tremendously egocentric and totally self centered. And when thi suspected killer originally talked with law enforcement regarding the case, there was no mention of god or any mental aberration. That wasn't until later.
