The DSM-5 and the DSM-6 for ADHD
The way in which ADHD diagnosis has to fit into two rule books if you like. The DSM-3 I'm guessing Alex and Wright wouldn't have had adult ADHD in there probably or maybe two. In the DSM-6 when that comes out I'm pretty sure that the diagnostic criteria will change. It is a spectrum disorder we are all slightly different but psychiatrists have to use these 18 symptoms of hyperactivity impulsivity, having it as a child cut off 12 etc.
