The Obstacles to Women Artists

The Catholic Church was the most powerful and wealthy patron of the arts in the Renaissance. Women weren't allowed into the life room where they could study their nude, you know, learn an anatomical skill with their painting until the 1890s. And it's the fact that these women just had constant barriers to overcome. So much of the time that they would even be able to become artists was if their father was an artist as well.
