The Story of General Electric
General electric and for most of its history, was a company that made electrically powered appliances for the home. But then in the 19 sixties, it began to do what all the other big corporations in america did, which was to buy into new kinds of unrelated fields. By by two thousand eight, about half ther revenue was coming from their financial arm. They tried to shut it down, to divest themselves of all their finance and turn to what they called brilliant technologies - meshing automation and technology with the manufacturing of the future. It's something that's kind of on the cards for some time, isn't it?
