Does the Sanhedrin Really Exist?

Brent, give me the verse about peter. We're told which sanhedrin he goes to. Where are they? Ot, b Brent, so i started reading this earlier. I'm trying to thnk of what the parallel would be for us. Like we hear this and we picture jesus standing like an official trial before an official court, before the official sanhedrin. But that's not where they 're at. There is a back room group of people doing back room deals, and then everybody else is just giving the nod. The ruling would the high priest be the chief executive.
