The Role of DDX41 in Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation

DDX41 is one of those genes that actually the deleterious variants are so common they're out in the general population. So we need to think about germline risk for patients of all ages. We also observe that male individuals who have these deleterious variant progress to malignancy more often than females. And we also see that when the germline DDX41 mutation carriers go to stem cell transplant even when donors are normal and don't have that mutation they have severe graft versus host disease, life threatening if not treated with post-transplant cytotoxin.
