How to Write a Product Vision Statement
The product vision document is a writing exercise to get clarity around this. We start now looking at the data that we have, do substantiate and come up with ideas of can we actually achieve that vision? And why do we think we can achieved that vision? So for a very well established product like Google Analytics, we would easily look at three to five years in advance. The roadmap then breaks into specific projects that will help us hit the goals. That's the entire planning stage only. The execution is yet to be talked about.
