Pruning for Non-Intubated Patients With Acute Hypoxemic Respiratory Failure

Pruning has been widely adopted now for intubated patients. Is pruning a strategy for the non-intubated patient with acute hypoxemic respiratory failure? There was quite a lot of anecdotal and observational evidence to suggest that pruning could be quite effective in non-intubsed patients. It's highly likely that the exact same principles that give the benefit in the intubated patient would also yield benefits in the non- Intubated patient.
