The Importance of Running a Marathon
Marcell's crowd models can help to optimise the flow of runners on the course. He says they are very accurate, especially in marathon running because we're talking about tens of thousands of people. The model can tell you what will happen pretty accurately - but it makes sense that a system like this would be predictable. Each runner is their own race, and there isn't much interaction between them yet,. most of the systems don't behave like physical systems made up of people who have desires and emotions.
