The donair place i used to go to in edmonton as a kid, it just didn't make donairs with a sweet sauce. And so i was really just used to a tangy, garlic sauce. They're definitely, like, fast and loose with it. In alberta, even with the sauces too. You can even go an hour at sidef halifax and find something with lettuce on it. No donar will be considered pure if it contains lettuce. Or they might put peats of sauce on it, or they might put pepperone and cheese on it. There's just no rules there.
