The Carbon Cycle in the Ocean

Plants pull carbon from the air or water and use it to build their trunks, leaves, roots, bodies. In the ocean, the heavy lifting is done by photoplact in capturing the carbon through a process called photo synthesis. Just as on the land, pido plankton are pulling in carbon and turning it into food for other life in the ocean.
