Stephen johnson says that most prison governors simply don't have the skill to deal with education effectively. Prison staff left during the pandemic, and those who replaced them were used to prisoners remaining in their cells for more than 22 hours a day. So we're looking in some areas, you kow, above 30 per cent of the staff not actually working within a prison outside of the covered restrictions. It's very difficult to devise a really constructive curriculum and then have good governance around what that curriculum is. And that's one thing the ministry have now changed, in that the investing heavily reducing efended and the putting more specialists into those rolls that can effect good governments around education.
