A Pastoral Role in the Assassination of Hitler
Bonhoeffer had a pastoral role, more than anything else, in that he was a reference person for people who wondered whether this was the right thing to do. It's thought that there might have been as many as 10 to 15 plots to assassinate Hitler over the years. Bonhoeffer considers all kinds of different avenues in relation to this. He takes very seriously what it means for him as a pastor to be involved effectively in blessing somebody to kill themselves and kill Hitler at the same time.
