The History of Labor in the US

The history of labor in the us is long and complex. And it is impossible to reflect them all here. So instead, i'm just going to proceed by picking a few big moments that shape the work week as we know it. The first is electricity replacing steam power in factories. Next we have world war one, which tightened the labor market for two reasons. That increased demand and decreased supply puts the workers in really good bargaining position. They got much higher wages. And increasingly, they picked more time off. Hours became shorter. Then over the course of the next decade or so, workers demanding and getting even more. It was goming next to sunday, so you gould kind
