Cascade layers are a new way to organize styles and create overrides. They feel really daunting at first, but there are some rad features about them. So if you want to do like card variants or variants on custom properties, it's got a lot of cool features right in there. It just takes this weight of having a very linear index.css file that you meticulously be managing the override powers of all these things in Cascade.
