The Crimes of Sergey Skripal
Sergey Skripal was a mid-level intelligence agent with the GRU in the mid-1990s when he was posted to Madrid, Spain. In 2006, Russian court sentenced him to 13 years in prison on espionage-related charges. His information was undoubtedly useful to the West, but not amazingly so. He was exchanged back to the British as part of the famous spy swap which took place at Vienna Austria Airport.
