The Differences in Dopamine Production in ADHD
People who are neurotypical actually get a little kick of dopamine just in anticipation of a future award. People who have ADHD only get a dopamine kick when the actual reward is taking place. So that kind of delayed gratification is really difficult because there's nothing neurochemically cushioning, you know, doing the hard thing.
