The Fresh Start Effect
The fresh start effect is the phenomenon whereby people are more likely to tackle their goals immediately following salient temporal landmarks. These can include a birthday, a job change, a big holiday, some a fresh month, a fresh week, whatever. Maggie Whelan: I love the idea that it widened the availability of when we could use some inspiration and a nudge to start doing something that we want to do better in our lives.
