Human slimes lime in the human body internal then, as opposed to a snail who has kind of external slime. I think that it has also to do with the transition that life made going from the water to land where you just simply simply can't have your slimes on the outside because it would dry out immediately or you would lose too much water. So our eyes are really the only open slime surface that we have. And even there, there is of course it's a slimy layer but even there are lipids like a fatty layer on top just to keep the water in.
