Preminities and the Underworld

In Book 6 of Virgil's Ineid, the wanderers upon the way to Elysium actually step out of the darkness and walk beneath a glorious heavenly panoply. While I cannot claim to have authority here to settle the matter one way or another, I'm firmly in the catabasis camp. Preminities was from Elia, as we've mentioned, and a number of other philosophers followed in his footsteps known as the Eliatic School. These thinkers adhered to preminities' doctrine of the unity of being, and sought to show, often through paradoxes, that change and coming to be are impossible.
