Management as a science really came about in the 19 and early twentieth centuries. The modern economy is much more service base than manufacturing base. A lot of what we're trying to achieve is harder define. Just telling people what to do all the time is not the right approach. We've had to get used to so many new technologies, technologies that have come and gone. When i started work in 19 80, you had no personal computers. You needed paperclip a stately you neede tipe just to get through the working day. And your final lesson is that workers need to be more flexible.
