Crisis and Conflict in Contemporary Africa

This chapter investigates the rising state-based conflicts across Africa, analyzing 28 conflicts in 16 countries fueled by poor governance, criminality, and foreign interventions. It highlights the complex interplay of ethnic violence, resource exploitation, and external influences, particularly Russian involvement and the failures of international peacekeeping. The discussion sheds light on the underlying causes of instability, including unemployment and corruption, while questioning the efficacy of global aid and military strategies in addressing these challenges.
